This marks my 15th year of pastoral ministry. If you have been around Cornerstone for any amount of time, you are aware that our one constant is change. Why is that? Because we are always seeking to be culturally relevant in order to reach as many as possible for Christ.
I can’t help but think about how things have changed since my graduate studies at Asbury Seminary just 12 years ago. It was pre-9/11, pre-financial meltdowns, pre-Facebook and Tweets. While the message of Scripture continues to withstand the test of time, the method by which we do ministry continues to change. Therefore, a desire started to burn within me.; the desire for further study in order to continue to grow and change with the times. So I applied for the Beeson Pastors Scholarship Program at Asbury in Wilmore, Kentucky. Realizing the competitive nature of acceptance into the program, I figured my chances of acceptance were slim to none. So I left it in the Lord’s hands. Well, needless to say, the Lord’s hands are pushing me into a very intense year of training. The famous line holds true once again…Be careful what you pray! As you read this blog, I hope you are challenged and equipped with me as we continue to grow together in our understanding of how to reach more for Christ in an ever fluid and dynamic world.
